It’s almost time for the second of mine and Clive Fogelman‘s Spring Yoga Retreat in Italy! Last year we had an absolutely amazing time with the most fantastic group of yogis and we can’t wait to return this year. From the 7th – 14th May 2016 we’ll be staying once again in the stunning Masseria della Zingara, a place that offers the perfect escape from a busy life and the ideal opportunity to re-energise and reconnect. It’s a charming 18th century farmhouse with a private pool, set in 20 tranquil acres of olive, cherry and almond groves only 7km from the unspoilt Puglian coastline.
Led by Clive & Clare, the retreat offers a truly dedicated teaching experience with a variety of yoga styles including; vinyasa, alignment-based flow, yin, restorative, candlelit meditation by the fireside and yoga nidra. A variety of massage treatments will also be available on request (given by Clare).
Every morning we will meet for a morning meditation to set intentions for the day ahead. This will be followed by an uplifting
vinyasa practice held either in the stunning yoga shala, or outside surrounded by the beautiful environment of the Masseria. After the morning practice we will enjoy a delicious breakfast together on the terrace. The day will then be yours to enjoy however you wish whether it’s reading a book by the pool, treating yourself to a massage, or exploring the local countryside and towns. On a few of the days we will arrange optional excursions – last year we went to a market, visited a local town and had a beautiful day at the beach, and some afternoons we will offer yoga workshops to explore and play. In the early evening we will meet again to enjoy a more relaxing class focused around yin and restorative, before enjoying a beautiful dinner together. After dinner some nights we will offer a guided candlelight meditation session in the studio, warmed by a log fire. I’ve been keeping this under wraps for a while but I am excited to finally announce that I will be running a very special yoga retreat next year with fellow yoga teacher Clive Fogelman, in the beautiful Pugliese countryside of southern Italy. Taking place from Saturday 16th May to Saturday 23rd May 2015, the retreat will be held in the stunning Masseria della Zingara, a charming 18th century farmhouse situated in 20 tranquil acres of olive, cherry and almond groves only 7km from the unspoilt Puglian coastline.
Each day will begin with an uplifting practice focused around setting good intentions for the day ahead, and this will be held either in the stunning yoga shala, or outside surrounded by the beautiful environment of the Masseria. After the morning practice we will enjoy a delicious breakfast together on the terrace. The day will then be yours to enjoy, and in the early evening we will meet again to enjoy a more relaxing class.
The retreat will offer a variety of yoga styles, including vinyasa, alignment-based flow, yin and yoga nidra, restorative and meditation. Each day will include at least two opportunities to practice but both are entirely optional. For those wanting an extra challenge, there will also be a few fun workshop-style opportunities to practice some more advanced poses. The classes will be suitable for all levels of yoga, and options and alternatives will be offered. One of the rare benefits to the trip will be having two teachers dedicated to delivering you a very special yoga programme. This means that adjustments will feature highly and you will receive a truly focused teaching experience.
Twice a year I travel to Cannes with Chapman Taylor for work conferences and as I write this I’m currently sat on my return flight from Nice to London Heathrow. Thankfully this flight is at a friendlier hour than my outbound flight on Monday morning which required a 4.30am alarm call!
I wouldn’t describe myself as a frequent flyer but I travel enough that I’m fairly organised with it now. I keep all my paperwork and passport in a little file and have the BA app on my iPhone so that I can have a paperless boarding card, which I must admit I still find very novel! I also always schedule reminders to check in online the day before and ensure I get a decent window seat. I confess that I’m still completely useless at packing however and even with my incessant list writing it never seems to get any easier! It is truly one task I could happily live without, particularly for conferences where I try to pack light but have to take such specific outfits.
