I’m excited to announce that on Sunday 21st December I will be running my last workshop of 2014 at Down To Earth in Tufnell Park, North London. The winter period and all its festivities is a busy time that can sometimes result in us feeling like we’ve no time for ourselves. Yet this is the one time of the year when we probably need to dedicate time to ourself more than any other as our bodily functions often have to work harder than normal and our routine often disappears out the window without us even having the time to realise! The 2 hour workshop, Move Mindfully & Restore Balance, is designed to provide a sense of stability and get you back to feeling like you can take on the world again.
Over 2 hours we will explore a deep slow flow designed to help you reconnect with your body and your breath. We’ll experience some balancing vinyasa flow and break down the alignment of some of the key poses to help build up the relationship between body and mind once again. All the sequences will be designed to recharge the body from the inside out and we will practice some pranayama flows in order to awaken our energy and find our inner calm.
We’ll finish by relaxing completely with a blissful restorative practice to balance and calm the senses, and give us time to set good intentions for the forthcoming new year.

I’ve been keeping this under wraps for a while but I am excited to finally announce that I will be running a very special yoga retreat next year with fellow yoga teacher Clive Fogelman, in the beautiful Pugliese countryside of southern Italy. Taking place from Saturday 16th May to Saturday 23rd May 2015, the retreat will be held in the stunning Masseria della Zingara, a charming 18th century farmhouse situated in 20 tranquil acres of olive, cherry and almond groves only 7km from the unspoilt Puglian coastline.
Each day will begin with an uplifting practice focused around setting good intentions for the day ahead, and this will be held either in the stunning yoga shala, or outside surrounded by the beautiful environment of the Masseria. After the morning practice we will enjoy a delicious breakfast together on the terrace. The day will then be yours to enjoy, and in the early evening we will meet again to enjoy a more relaxing class.
The retreat will offer a variety of yoga styles, including vinyasa, alignment-based flow, yin and yoga nidra, restorative and meditation. Each day will include at least two opportunities to practice but both are entirely optional. For those wanting an extra challenge, there will also be a few fun workshop-style opportunities to practice some more advanced poses. The classes will be suitable for all levels of yoga, and options and alternatives will be offered. One of the rare benefits to the trip will be having two teachers dedicated to delivering you a very special yoga programme. This means that adjustments will feature highly and you will receive a truly focused teaching experience.
I’m excited to announce that you can now find me teaching at the excellent Hiitgirl studios in North London. As a yoga teacher, sports therapist and consultant who understands the need to juggle a million things at once, it’s always been really important to me that yoga is accessible to even the busiest of people. Sometimes we simply don’t have 90 minutes to spare to dedicate to a yoga class, or to getting our bodies healthy, plus, not everybody is up for delving into yoga in it’s entirety which, in my book, is totally a-ok. Something is always better than nothing!
Hiitgirl, created by the lovely Susan Dyson (you can find her working her Hiitgirl magic with Sweaty Betty on their 30-day challenge right now!), is designed with one aim in mind – to give busy women the best possible results without the need to camp out at the gym. To achieve this they combine kickass intensity with a huge variety of different moves so that no part of you gets left behind. Most of the Hiitgirl sessions last for 30 minutes, though there are some 60 minute ones too, including Jagati Yoga, which is where I come in.
Jagati Yoga is aimed at women who simply don’t have the time for 90 minute yoga classes and serves as a gateway to yoga, easing women into the practice and introducing them to the core postures. We work through flowing sun salutations and key poses, to ensure that you get to experience a balanced physical practice with every class.

The summertime is the perfect time to start exploring your body in new ways, so I’m delighted to be offering a Saturday summer vinyasa workshop at Glow Yoga in Covent Garden this month. Taking place on Saturday 26th July from 3-5pm, the workshop will consist of a delicious 2 hour challenging flow, incorporating a variety of poses and sequences to give you the opportunity to delve even further into your already established yoga practice. With a focus on the breath, you’ll be able to challenge yourself physically, while at the same time exploring how time can help you strip down the outer layers of your body and mind to allow you to really melt into your practice. Even further than you imagined!
We’ll be working on fun sequences with plenty of hip and heart openers to allow us to really embrace the fun of the practice. Expect to go upside down a little too and really explore the breakdown of a few arm balances in true workshop style.
Once the physical practice is complete, we’ll relax and let the inner glow of satisfaction seep further into our hearts. Expect to finish happily exhausted and satisfyingly peaceful!
This particular workshop is not suitable for beginners. You should be comfortable with a dynamic flow practice already. So come along, bring your friends, bring your smiles and bring your enthusiasm and let’s have some summer yoga fun! For more information see the Good Vibes website!

For me the biggest gift of yoga is, and always has been, the lessons it can teach you about your own body and mind; how it can help you understand how they work and how to get the best from them. I try my hardest to always practice and teach with integrity; to embrace individualism and alignment and encourage exploration into self adjustment, but in a time where social media seems to increasingly demand ‘show’ poses, almost as if they’re the evidence of whether or not you’re a good teacher, it can make you feel tempted, or even pressurised, to stray, often innocently, from the true purpose of asana and indeed the bigger yoga picture.
This comes to me at a really appropriate moment, and inspires me stay true to my aims, and responsibilities, as both a student and teacher of yoga.

It’s all about taking responsibility for how you feel, how fast you go, how quickly you recover, how amazing you want to be and feel in your own skin. Whether you have a yoga practice or not these are an excellent therapy and training choice and will ultimately help you feel more brilliant in your own body when resting and at play. It’s 4pm as I write this and I am in bed. I’ve been in bed all day, and I spent all day yesterday in bed too, and the day before that. I know what you’re thinking… ‘lazy bitch!’, and usually with the facts above I’d agree with you, only this week I’ve had no other choice. You see, this week I went into hospital for, what was originally, exploratory surgery to my lower abdomen and it ended up being rather more complicated than anticipated. Thankfully, despite the unexpected complexities, it all went really well, but what it’s made me realise is how much we take our bodies for granted. Even me, a person who uses their body consciously and energetically every single day and who didn’t consider myself to be somebody that took it for granted, not for a second. But I did.
On Wednesday morning, the day after my surgery, I went to sit up, only I couldn’t. It suddenly occurred to me that we are using our muscles every single second of every single day, even when we’re not aware of it. This might sound an obvious fact, and it absolutely is. But when is the last time you actually ‘thought’ about sitting up? For the lucky majority of us, we don’t think about it, we just do it! Yet here I was having to figure out a new way of attempting to sit up, without engaging my core muscles in the natural way I normally would. As it happens, for the first day, I couldn’t sit up at all without help but since then I’ve been working out ways of getting myself upright that don’t put too much pressure on the front of my body and it’s been a fascinating learning curve to realise just how much of my daily movement is normally autopilot; unthought and natural. I am so excited! Why? Because today I start a brand new Bliss Yoga class at Glow Yoga in Fitzrovia. I have long been a practitioner and teacher of restorative yoga having studied my Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with the fabulous Judith Hanson Lasater at Yogacampus a number of years ago. A more gentle, restorative approach is a must-have in my world. No matter whether you’re a vinyasa addict, a passionate ashtangi, a complete beginner, or even recovering from injury – this style of yoga has a place in your life. It’s a great place to start yoga, and a great place to evolve your practice if you’re generally into a more dynamic class. In truth, it wasn’t until I started doing regular restorative work that I really started to see my body opening and lengthening, and with that came the strength that I had lacked to do so many of the asanas that had previously evaded me in my stronger vinyasa practice. No, yoga absolutely isn’t just about the asanas but the ego has a mad way, right or wrong, of making you desire and lust after certain poses! I used to do more and more vinyasa thinking it would get me there, but when I stopped trying so hard and embraced a balanced practice that included vinyasa AND restorative, all of a sudden – BOOM! – I finally found the strength I’d been chasing for so long. I wished I’d known about it years longer than I had, and I wish I’d embraced it sooner than I did!
I’m happy to announce that as from this Friday, 4th April, I will be starting a new lunchtime Foundation class at the Fitzrovia studio of Glow Yoga at Good Vibes Studios. The Foundation classes are beginner and improver friendly and will give you a chance to get to grips with the ‘bread and butter’ poses of yoga. They are taught at a fluid but steady pace, designed to allow you to experience the poses and learn to adjust them to suit your body. I hasten to add that even as a seasoned yoga-goer I still get a lot out of going to classes of this level once fairly regularly. They’re a great addition to a regular dynamic practice and offer a great opportunity to get back to basics and really think about what you’re doing with your body through your physical yoga asana practice.
The new class will run from 12.45pm – 1.35pm so it’s a perfect fit for your lunch break if you’re local, or a nice way to fill in a gap in your day if you don’t have a whole lot of time in your busy schedule.

Ahhh Spring! Is there anything better after a long dark winter? On Saturday April 12th I will be teaching a Spring Detox workshop at Glow Yoga in Covent Garden – I’m totally excited about it since I love this time of year when the weather begins to get warmer and the days start to get a little longer. I always do a massive spring clean of my house and feel the same is needed of my body! Come and join me to embrace and welcome the warmer, lighter weather by investing some time in yourself with a spring yoga cleanse. Working on both the physical and mental aspects of yoga, the workshop will incorporate cleansing pranayama techniques with a detoxing, fire-building flow designed to tap into those deep-seated comfort zone areas and awaken the beast within! (yes, we all have one that’s gagging to get out for the summer!).
Finally to really melt the winter from our bodies and minds we will finish with a detoxing tea (I might even read you a spring limerick or two!) and a chance to set intentions for the seasons ahead before springing out into the world to spread our new-found joy!

Some of you will be aware that I’ve been doing a spot of teaching with the great team at lululemon Covent Garden recently and I’m really pleased to SHOUT OUT that we are running a special Saturday event together on the 23rd November – ‘City Sites Cycle Ride & Yoga’!
This is a really exciting event for me as anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love cycling around London and, naturally, I love yoga! So to be part of an event that combines the two is just fantastic.
The event will be open to all levels and will include a 10 mile bike ride led by cyclist and triathlete Adrian Fitch, followed by a yoga class designed specifically for cyclists. The bike ride will include a few section leaders so that all levels of cyclists are catered for, so whether you’re a pro who likes to go fast and hard, or a beginner who is learning or doing it for fun, don’t worry at all, you will be catered for! The yoga sequencing will be designed to help you recover and fine tune your body, plus stretch out from the ride and make sure you gain all the benefits you can!

Big Bicycle Love!
I’ve just come back from a long and blissful weekend at the beach. Those who know me will know that I’m happiest in, on, or around the water so you’ll understand that right now I am feeling totally connected and inspired!
With that in mind I’m really excited about teaching my regular yoga class at Glow Yoga tonight as it will be the first of what I hope will become some real elemental flow classes.
The sunshine does things to us. It makes us feel good, great even! But sometimes it also makes us shy away from the yoga studio too. So here’s the thing, don’t let the sunshine be your reason NOT to practice yoga. Let it be the reason you DO practice yoga! Your sun-fuelled practice will not only cleanse your body and mind, it will make you feel even more invigorated and alive, so that you can embrace the wonderful weather more fully! You’ll feel great doing it and great for doing it. Not to mention the fact that you’ll also get to tone up the wobbly bits of your body AND your mind all at the same time! So when people ask you what you’re doing on Tuesday evenings, whatever the weather, tell them you’re practicing a dynamic and challenging vinyasa flow yoga practice with me at Glow Yoga!
