Spring 2016 Yoga Retreat in Italy

It’s almost time for the second of mine and Clive Fogelman‘s Spring Yoga Retreat in Italy! Last year we had an absolutely amazing time with the most fantastic group of yogis and we can’t wait to return this year. From the 7th – 14th May 2016 we’ll be staying once again in the stunning Masseria della Zingara, a place that offers the perfect escape from a busy life and the ideal opportunity to re-energise and reconnect. It’s a charming 18th century farmhouse with a private pool, set in 20 tranquil acres of olive, cherry and almond groves only 7km from the unspoilt Puglian coastline.

Spring Italy Retreat 2015 000

Led by Clive & Clare, the retreat offers a truly dedicated teaching experience with a variety of yoga styles including; vinyasa, alignment-based flow, yin, restorative, candlelit meditation by the fireside and yoga nidra. A variety of massage treatments will also be available on request (given by Clare).

Example day…

IMG_6948Every morning we will meet for a morning meditation to set intentions for the day ahead. This will be followed by an uplifting
vinyasa practice held either in the stunning yoga shala, or outside surrounded by the beautiful environment of the Masseria. After the morning practice we will enjoy a delicious breakfast together on the terrace. The day will then be yours to enjoy however you wish whether it’s reading a book by the pool, treating yourself to a massage, or exploring the local countryside and towns. On a few of the days we will arrange optional excursions – last year we went to a market, visited a local town and had a beautiful day at the beach, and some afternoons we will offer yoga workshops to explore and play. In the early evening we will meet again to enjoy a more relaxing class focused around yin and restorative, before enjoying a beautiful dinner together. After dinner some nights we will offer a guided candlelight meditation session in the studio, warmed by a log fire. All the yoga and excursions are optional and you may join in with as much or as little as you like throughout the week. The retreat is yours to enjoy as you choose!

Masseria della Zingara 03Set within 20 beautiful acres of olive, cherry and almond groves, Masseria della Zingara – The House of the Gypsy – is a stunning traditional Pugliese farmhouse constructed in local limestone at the beginning of the 18th century. Lovingly restored by its owners, the farmhouse retains wonderful original features, such as communal living rooms with vaulted ceilings, while all rooms are decorated to offer guests modern comfort in simple and elegant style. The main house features a kitchen, dining room and two large living areas located on the ground floor. The kitchen leads out on to a large, shaded terrace with views over the gardens to the pool and trulli (traditional Pugliese dry stone huts), all set within a private walled area.

As of today (8th March 2016), we have just one beautiful studio option left, suitable for 2 or 3 friends, or a couple.

Masseria della Zingara 04The Masseria is set in beautiful Puglia, in the south of Italy with the unspoiled Puglian coastline just 7 kilometres away. Tucked away in a very private location that is hard to want to leave, the farmhouse is located near to a small village offering shops, local restaurants and the medieval white towns of Valle d’Itrea. The town of Bari is just 45 minutes away and also within reach is the coastal town of Polignano, famous for its Italian gelato (which I can recommend!). For those wanting a relaxing break the accommodation offers the perfect opportunity to relax by the pool and enjoy the grounds. However for those wanting to explore in their spare time there is plenty to do and see! Trips can be organised further afield, or should you want to stay local then bicycles are available to use at the Masseria, leaving you free to explore to your hearts desire.

Prices include accommodation, transfers to and from Bari airport, delicious locally-sourced food and drink (with the exception of Monday and Thursday night when we organise optional meals out) and at least 2 yoga classes a day. Get in touch if you want to join us! For more information on how to book see my retreat page, or for even more details you may see my blogpost from last years 2015 retreat.
