Spring 2015 Yoga Retreat in Italy!
I’ve been keeping this under wraps for a while but I am excited to finally announce that I will be running a very special yoga retreat next year with fellow yoga teacher Clive Fogelman, in the beautiful Pugliese countryside of southern Italy. Taking place from Saturday 16th May to Saturday 23rd May 2015, the retreat will be held in the stunning Masseria della Zingara, a charming 18th century farmhouse situated in 20 tranquil acres of olive, cherry and almond groves only 7km from the unspoilt Puglian coastline.
Each day will begin with an uplifting practice focused around setting good intentions for the day ahead, and this will be held either in the stunning yoga shala, or outside surrounded by the beautiful environment of the Masseria. After the morning practice we will enjoy a delicious breakfast together on the terrace. The day will then be yours to enjoy, and in the early evening we will meet again to enjoy a more relaxing class.
The retreat will offer a variety of yoga styles, including vinyasa, alignment-based flow, yin and yoga nidra, restorative and meditation. Each day will include at least two opportunities to practice but both are entirely optional. For those wanting an extra challenge, there will also be a few fun workshop-style opportunities to practice some more advanced poses. The classes will be suitable for all levels of yoga, and options and alternatives will be offered. One of the rare benefits to the trip will be having two teachers dedicated to delivering you a very special yoga programme. This means that adjustments will feature highly and you will receive a truly focused teaching experience.
Set within 20 beautiful acres of olive, cherry and almond groves, Masseria della Zingara – The House of the Gypsy – is a stunning traditional Pugliese farmhouse constructed in local limestone at the beginning of the 18th century. Lovingly restored by its owners, the farmhouse retains wonderful original features, such as communal living rooms with vaulted ceilings, while all rooms are decorated to offer guests modern comfort in simple and elegant style.
The main house features a kitchen, dining room and two large living areas located on the ground floor. The kitchen leads out on to a large, shaded terrace with views over the gardens to the pool and trulli (traditional Pugliese dry stone huts), all set within a private walled area.
Accommodation is split into 2 elegant apartments linked at the rear by another terrace. Both feature spacious bedrooms and sitting area in which to relax. These have sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, which, forming part of the Masseria estate is yours to explore. Both double and twin rooms are available, with ensuite and single accommodation available on a first-come-first-served basis.
The Masseria is set in beautiful Puglia, in the south of Italy with the unspoiled Puglian coastline just 7 kilometres away. Despite a very private location (that you may not wish to leave!), the farmhouse is located close to a small village offering specialist shops, small restaurants and the medieval white towns of Valle d’Itrea. The town of Bari is just 45 minutes away and also within reach is the coastal town of Polignano, famous for its Italian gelato. For those wanting a relaxing break the accommodation offers the perfect opportunity to relax by the pool and enjoy the grounds. However for those wanting to explore in their spare time there is plenty to do and see! Trips can be organised further afield, or should you want to stay local then bicycles are available to use at the Masseria, leaving you free to explore to your hearts desire.
Prices start from £745pp and include accommodation, transfers to and from Bari airport*, and at least 2 yoga classes a day. Also included in the cost are 3 beautifully prepared meals a day, plus drinks and wine, with the exception of dinner on Monday and Thursday when we thought you might want to go and explore the local restaurant scene either alone or with some of the group.
*Transfers will be coordinated with our suggested flight to and from Bari airport. Should you wish to travel to an alternative airport, or arrive at a different time then you will be entirely responsible for your own transfers and any associated costs.
The extras…and what’s not included…
Not included in the cost are flights and travel insurance, however we can help with the booking of your flights and suggest a preferred flight to and from Bari which will ensure you have a seamless (and included) transfer to the retreat venue. Private yoga sessions and massages (holistic, deep tissue and sports) will be available subject to extra costs.
To book, or ask any further questions about the retreat, please get in touch and I will be more than happy to help!
Here’s to the sunshine that awaits!
